A Ph.D., or Doctor of Philosophy, is a great degree received after three or more years of research-level study, which includes the creation, submission, presentation, and defence of a thesis dissertation.
The Ph.D. degree can be earned in a number of areas, including science, technology, and the literature. According to Wikipedia, the word "philosophy" "does not apply solely to the area or academic discipline of philosophy, but is used in a wider context in accordance with its original Greek definition of "love of knowledge." The Ph.D. is practically required for certain occupations, such as university professor or researcher. The majority of Ph.D.s are received in order to contribute original research results to a group of scholars, a field of study, or a specialised discipline.
Only those who have completed their master's degree in a similar course/field/stream to the one in which they wish to pursue a Ph.D. are qualified to apply for a Ph.D. programme. Some colleges univesities also require students to have completed an M.Phil. before enrolling in a Ph.D. programme. Aside from that, several colleges universities state that candidates who have passed the UGC NET are eligible for Ph.D. programmes offered by them. Candidates interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering must have a clear GATE ranking.
